LIES, LIES AND
MORE LIES
Just when you
think you have seen it all, up pops seller MRHANOVR from Patterson,
New York with his special twist on selling Tiffany. He listed a Tiffany
lamp and shade on Ebay for $99,000 which should have been the first
clue. The listing told of a Tiffany Studios tulip lamp and base. Early
on it was determined that the shade was a fake and several e mails
that were sent to the seller were forwarded to TiffanyFakes.Com and
they told of replies from the seller stating that it" had been
in his family for over 40 years and was purchased from a well known
and very knowledgeable dealer in New York City". The next thing
to happen was another revision to the listing that changes it to a
Tiffany Iris shade and an "unknown base" with a starting
price of only $49,999 this time. The third revision made it out to
be just a plain old iris lamp and bronze base with no mention of Tiffany
at all in the title. All of these revisions took place within 3 days.
In the last revision he admits that " the tag was added later,
however it was a period glass lamp made by another designer and not
sure the base is original to the lamp". When asked to verify
the purchase in New York City the seller answered "as I really
knew nothing about the lamp as far as being real, I was just looking
for information through other collectors by trolling the lamp on Ebay".
Just makes you want to do business with this seller over and over
again.

WHAT'S
THE DIFFERENCE?
On the left
is the real thing with a Buy It Now price of $535. On the
right is a reproduction sphinx with a fake patina, no quality
workmanship and offered by a seller who has graced our pages
before with other fakes and it has a Buy It Now price of $750

ANTIQUE-FREE-FOR-ALL
This seller calls anything
with brass or glass as Tiffany but admits that they are unable to
locate a signature. Most likely that is because they are not Tiffany
items. They are not guaranteed to be Tiffany but are guaranteed to
be old and original. He also uses the PRIVATE feature and before
you make a bid on one of his fakes, you should check out his 35
negatives or his almost 60 neutrals in just the past 12 months.
A frequent contributor to this site and two of their latest are
shown below.

"EXPERIMENTAL"
Tiffany used an "X"
to mark glass pieces that were determined to be experimental but
it is very doubtful that all of the "X" marked pieces
appearing now are genuine. Be very careful when bidding on or buying
any of these pieces.

READY FOR A FAMILY REUNION -----------------
The picture shown below
is currently listed on Ebay as 260215542665 but it is missing the
other members of this large and growing fake family. Missing is
the goose, goat, elephant, lion, horse, cow, rhino, frog, hippo,
fox, ram, swans, leopard, and donkey. The listing shows the base
signature which can be seen on Page 1 with the Made In China label
still attached. Someone has already bid $150 for the set of four.

THE BRIEF RETURN OF THE SPIDER
The group we have fought so long
to get off Ebay has found a way to get back on. They consigned a fake
spider lamp that they tried to sell many times on Ebay to an auction
house in Florida since they and all of their 30 different names have
been permanently removed from Ebay. The auction house listed it on
Ebay and it immediately came to our attention. The auction house was
notified and they removed it from their auction. It will probably
show up again and if you see a spider lamp, think fake. These people
will stop at nothing to sell their fakes and they should know that
we will be watching.

THE LAMP REVISITS
This lamp was first seen
approximately 14 months ago and is currently shown on Page
3 of this site. If you will notice, this photograph is the
exact photograph that was used before. It is a fake and fraudulently
signed Tiffany lamp and it was offered, but unsold, by a different
seller but it appears to be in the same hands as it was 14
months ago. The current Ebay listing is 160218003953 and you
need to visit it before it is gone. The new seller, TTVANHORN0
signed onto Ebay on March 10, 2008 and already the telephone
number in Colorado for this brand new seller had been disconnected.
Most likely the payment will be required to be sent to Atlanta.
The listing says they will accept PayPal so do not pay any
other way. If the telephone gets turned back on, you might
inquire about any oceanfront lots they might have for sale
in Colorado. Be very careful when buying from 0 rated sellers
and make sure you know who you are dealing
with..
It took a few days but Ebay
has removed the listing completely and the account of this
brand new seller with a bogus telephone number, has been suspended.
Ebay does absolutely no due diligence and their customers
are left to fend for themselves. This is a pointed reminder
to never purchase an expensive item from a zero rated seller
and is no different from sending money to a seller who has
a record of not shipping. Think

It is back again and this time it
most likely has sold for a record $201.00. Available from
AA Importing in St Louis at $20.00 each or 2 for $30.00. You
can get 13 of them from AA for what one sold on Ebay. What
a deal.

Just when you think Atlanta
is free from Tiffany fakes, up pops another auction house
with more fakes. On the left and on the right are their offerings.

what does that tell you about buying anything from them

someone - not Tiffany - has added a lions head to this piece
and the seller is trying to sell it as genuine. No way.

The photos above are of a genuine
Tiffany Studios Sphinx and the photos below are yet another offering
from frequent contributor WHEELBOY02.
See above on this page. First it was
listed with a Buy It Now price of $750 and when that would not work,
it was relisted again with a Buy It Now price of $250. The seller
calls it "spectacular, solid bronze Tiffany Studios paperweight
with a wonderful rich, dark, aged patina". Compare the top
photos with the bottom photos and you will see a major difference
in quality, workmanship, detail and it is easy to see that there
is no comparison between the two pieces. Just another example of
someone trying to take your money for a piece of junk. Know who
you are buying from and ask questions.
